much the same as way (Vol 1)
At the time of doing it, I was addicted to just about everything (It''s a rock musician''s occupational hazard!)

Needless to say, I am now free of all temptations other than prescribed killers.

In that matter I have no choice.

For over a year and a bit, the only thing which occupied my head was music.

Armed with a 30 year old analogue recorder, a 335 12 string an old M1 and hand percussion in an old goat shed.

An ex serving solier told me how to make a space heater out of 2 50 gallon oil drums by welding them one on top of the other, connecting them with a flue pipe and builing a fire door in the bottom one.
Boy that thing would burn anything.

We lined that shed out with carpets.

My wife, bless her helped me dig out a bass drum platform with a concrete slab on top of earth. (I had read somewhere that if you did this, the resulting sounds would be good.)
They were. what a brilliant percussion room that made. Acoustic instruments also sounded great.
It''s hard on your own being an engineer and performer, part of you worries about the levels, the other part of you worries about the performance.
can be hard work.
There are only 5 pieces on this album,
The first is just a country rock thing.
To get that sound out of a 12 string acoustic being short on microphones, I did it this way.
I had a little Sonny walman microphone powered by batteries.
I plugged this into an old Teac 2 track reel to reel via the mic inputs then took the line outs from the Teac into the mixer.
Great sound for what ? a $40 condensor microphone.
The second piece ''Easter day'' was a bit weird.
The Radio 1 DJ from whom I had bought the machine gave me some of his tapes on which were some of his old shows but recorded at 71ips.
Being short of money Ihad to use one of these tapes at 15ips.
The machine was not erasing properly and leakage from some of his old stuff provided (at 2 x proper p/b speed) an interesting
backdrop.
The next two pices ''Celeste'' and ''One orange'' last apx. 10 minutes each,
For ''Celeste'' all the percussion came off the M1. Each part added individually - a hell of a task on an 8 tI can tell you.
Some of the best bits of percussion I have ever done.
''One orange'' ha great closing minut or so - the bass end is something else linked to the damped 12 string.
''Dreamcatcher'' has great production ideas but my head was starting to collapse so maybe you can forgive the shortcommings!
