Details:
Welcome to Dr. Zoom''s world, where the British invasion meets Texas blues to create an eccentric work in this debut album from Fougerousse. This is music which exudes the faded splendor of a crumbling renaissance palace, filled with bittersweet memories, yet also a good place to party right now! Thoughtful songwriting, quirky guitar work, and intriguing vocal melodies and harmonies make this album a must for all living humans on the planet, except for rap fans, who will not like this at all. Beware! Close listening will reveal nuanced layers of hobo elegance and renegade charm, which can be dangerously addictive!

Richard Fougerousse grew up in Texas, where he played professionally in rock bands around Austin and elsewhere in the 60''s and 70''s. Then he laid his axe aside to become a "grown-up". He had a business career for seventeen years, after which he went to grad school and became a History professor, which led him to his recent situation for twelve years as director of a European study abroad program located in a restored medieval monastery in the foothills of the Austrian Alps (about two hours west of Vienna). Now he is back in Texas, and glad of it!
In December of 2002 Richard was in a car crash on an icy mountain road. Among other injuries, his left forearm was broken and had to have a metal bar put in it. His left hand and forearm were very weak and partially numb, and he was not doing his physical therapy as he should have done (it was boring and painful), so his wife Rosemary went out and bought him a Fender Strat, figuring that playing it would be good therapy for his left hand and forearm. So he got back into it after many years of not playing. It was indeed good therapy for his left hand, and this album is the result.
Tom Fougerousse has been wielding the bass guitar with authority for some time, and has developed his own unique big bass sound, like the rumble of distant thunder, which provides the rock solid foundation for this music.
So here it is; we hope you like it.

Lyrics
1. Dr. Zoom''s Lone Star Good Time Band
We''re Dr. Zoom''s Lone Star Good Time Band
Gonna have a party - so lend us a hand
We''re Dr. Zoom''s Lone Star Good Time Band
Gonna have some fun - he''s takin'' command
Laughter and you - music and friends
A rendezvous - it all depends - on you
Can''t you see - that it''s gonna be - very special indeed - tonight
I couldn''t conceive - of such a reprieve - but it''s happening here - tonight.
Guitar solo
They have no wine - do whatever he says
They have no wine - do whatever he says
Laughter and you - music and friends - a rendezvous - it all depends - on you
Can''t you see - that it''s gonna be - very special indeed - tonight
I couldn''t conceive - of such a reprieve - but it''s happening here - tonight
We''re Dr. Zoom''s Lone Star Good Time Band
Gonna have a good time - isn''t it grand
We''re Dr. Zoom''s Lone Star Good Time Band
Dancin'' and singin'' - it''s all in his plan
2. I Don''t Mind
I don''t mind - Constantine
I don''t mind - if Clovis is king
You just might find - Charlemagne is on the line
You just might find - Louis IX is doing fine
I don''t mind - Alfred the Great
I don''t mind - Habsburg won''t abdicate
You just might find - Canute the Great is on the line
You just might find - Justinian is doing fine
I don''t wanna hear about it - I don''t wanna know
I don''t wanna hear about it - was a long time ago
Guitar solo
I don''t wanna hear about it - I don''t wanna know
I don''t wanna hear about it - was a long time ago
You''re my queen - with eyes of green
You''re my queen - quite unforeseen
You just might find - if you''re so inclined
You just might find - you''re gonna be wined and dined
3. Counterrevolution
Down with the revolution - all of France is dying
Looking for a solution - Robespierre is lying
Men are seeking retribution - the eldest daughter is crying
In the Vendee - they won''t take the persecution
In the Vendee - there''s a counterrevolution
Guitar solo
Down with the revolution - let the church bells ring
Please give ''em absolution - long live the king
Ever since his execution - they will do anything
In the Vendee - they won''t take the persecution
In the Vendee - there''s a counterrevolution
Down with the revolution - of restoration they sing
They will have restitution - long live the king
4. J.S. Bach
J.S. Bach was born in Eisenach
His parents died before he was ten
One of his brothers brought him up
He left home at age fifteen
He lived a quiet life - and married his Maria
When his first wife died he married for a second time
Twenty-two children - twenty-two children - all in all
Guitar solo
He said, if you don''t like Bach you must ask yourself this question
Is there something wrong with his music
Or is something wrong with you?
Can''t live without it - no doubt about it - at all
J.S. Bach is a mystery - gave us all he had to give
In all of human history - the greatest composer to ever live
5. Rosemary''s Song
Woke up yesterday morning - I was feeling mighty fine
Look out on the brand new day - we got lots and lots of time
I think you better come with me - I can make you feel alive
There ain''t nothin'' gonna change the way - the way I feel inside
Let the truth be known - I''m tired of livin'' alone
When we get to where we''re goin'' - we''ll still be right here
Don''t you know - I''m talkin'' ''bout now - you can forget about your fear
What I''m tryin'' to tell you girl - there ain''t nothing we can''t do
Make no mistake about it - I''m gonna become one with you
Let the truth be known - I''m tired of livin'' alone
Guitar solo
Let the truth be known - I''m tired of livin'' alone
When we get to where we''re goin'' - we''ll still be right here
Don''t you know - I''m talkin'' ''bout now - you can forget about your fear
What I''m tryin'' to tell you girl - there ain''t nothin'' we can''t do
Make no mistake about it - I''m gonna become one with you
6. Texas
I got to hightail it back to Texas
Been away a long long time
I got to hightail it back to Texas
When I get there everything''ll be fine
I ain''t got no money - ain''t got no job
My baby she''s leavin'' town
Ain''t no way that I can stay so far away from home
You know this scene''s just bringin'' me down
I got to hightail it back to Texas
Been away a long long time
I got to hightail it back to Texas
When I get there everything''ll be fine
I came back from the eastern lands
Carrying a bag of jewels
I thought I''d make the big time as a travelin'' man
But all I found were Austrian rules
I got to hightail it back to Texas
Been away a long long time
I got to hightail it back to Texas
When I get there everything''ll be fine
Guitar solo
I got to hightail it back to Texas
Been away a long long time
I got to hightail it back to Texas
When I get there everything''ll be fine
I came back from the eastern lands
Carrying a bag of jewels
I thought I''d make the big time as a travelin'' man
But all I found were Austrian rules
I got to hightail it back to Texas
Been away a long long time
I got to hightail it back to Texas
When get there everything''ll be fine
7. Down and Out in Austin
I''m down and out in Austin - don''t have a nickel to my name
I''m down and out in Austin - and I don''t give you the blame
But since you left town baby - things just haven''t been the same
Well I never learned my lesson
I never learned how to play the game
Well I never learned my lesson
I never found my fortune and my fame
Oh you left town baby - and it''s a cryin'' shame
Guitar solo
I don''t cry for what we were
My tears are for what we became
I don''t cry for what we were
My tears are fallin'' just the same
Oh since you left town baby
Things just haven''t been the same
8. The Day is Done
The day is done and the darkness falls
From the wings of night
As a feather is wafted downward
From an eagle in his flight
I see the lights of the village gleam
Through the rain and the mist
And a feeling of sadness comes over me
That I cannot resist
A feeling of sadness and longing
That is not akin to pain
And resembles sorrow only
As the mist resembles rain
Come read to me some poem
Some simple and heartfelt lay
That will soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day
Not from the grand old masters
Not from the bard sublime
Whose distant footsteps echo through
The corridors of time
Who through long days of labor
And nights devoid of ease
Still heard in his soul the music
Of wonderful melodies
Guitar solo
Such songs have power to quiet
The restless pulse of care
And come like the benediction
That follows after prayer
Then read from the treasured volume
The poem of your choice
And lend to the rhyme of the poet
The beauty of your voice
And the night will be filled with music
And the cares that infest the day
Will fold their tents like the Arabs
And as silently steal away
9. Can''t Think of Anything but You
I got bloodshot eyes and a nasty disposition
Can''t think of anything but you
I can''t sleep at night and I''m pretty much out of commission
If you saw me you would think that I was beyond recognition
Can''t think of anything but you
You gotta have mercy on a man in my condition
Well you know that all I am is just an old time blues musician
Can''t think of anything but you
I wanna play for you, but now I''m gonna have to audition
Guitar solo
I can''t eat or sleep and I''m sufferin'' from malnutrition
Can''t think of anything but you
I hope you don''t mind if I look for a good physician
I got myself into this actin'' of my own volition
Can''t think of anything but you
You gotta understand I''m just following an old tradition
10. Judgement Blues
Guitar solo
Judge not that you be not judged
Judge not that you be not judged
For as you judge, so will you be judged
And the measure with which you measure
Will be measured out to you
Guitar solo
Why do you notice the mote in your brother''s eye?
But do not notice the beam in your own eye?
How can you say to your brother
Let me remove the mote from your eye?
Guitar solo
Judge not that you be not judged
Judge not that you be not judged
For as you judge, so will you be judged
And the measure with which you measure
Will be measured out to you
Guitar solo
