Jamey Hampton is a Portland-based singer/songwriter with a propulsive and theatrical musical style. He creates rocky jazzy intelli-pop, layering sharp, incisive lyrics on a bed of sound undulating from the delicate to the dangerous. Hampton mixes genres and crosses influences with the confidence of an acrobat working without a net. At the root of his writing lie vivid imagery and impressionistic tales. Driven by melody and a strong rhythmic thrust, lush ballads of hope, disappointment and resolution are interspersed with hard-driving songs that showcase his superb guitar playing, acrobatic vocals deeply grooving band.

"Throw Caution" was released in 2000. The Oregonian called it "Pure ecstatic pop with terrific performances."

In November 2003, he released his latest collection of songs on a CD entitled "Chasing Daylight". Recorded in Portland at Kung Fu Bakery, "Chasing Daylight" is a tightly focused collection of nine songs. Engineered and mixed once again by Bob Stark (McKinley, Stephanie Schneiderman, In June, etc), Hampton had a simple goal for the record: "I wanted the record to be beautiful, and I wanted to play every guitar part on it as well. Bob and I spent weeks searching for sounds, like sonic miners working rich veins for just the right textures to suit each song."

"Chasing Daylight" was released at a benefit concert Hampton organized for Mercy Corps, the international relief agency based in Portland.

Jamey Hampton is the artistic director of BodyVox, a contemporary dance company based in Portland. He has performed throughout the world in a variety of venues and media including concert dance, film and television. He has choreographed music videos for U2, Sting, Pat Metheny, John Fogerty and others. He choreographed for David Bowie''s Glass Spider tour, and performed in the 2000 Oscars. He has made several short films with BodyVox co-director Ashley Roland and Los Angeles director Mitchell Rose. These films have won awards at over 40 international film festivals, and recently won the American Choreography Award in Los Angeles.
