Details:
Born and raised in Lexington Ky. I came to Los Angeles in 1977 to pursue my singing career.
Things got off to a very slow start and I paid a lot of "dues" with no payback!

I was hired to sing as one of the backup singers for Ronnie Hudson who had a hit single called,''California Knows How to Party'', unfortunately like many things in this industry, things didn''t work out with the record https://www.tradebit.com it was back to beating the bushes so to speak.
I then did more solo and studio work, before a musician friend of mine who was also my pianist and band leader named, Woody Woods, an extremely talented guy, (check him out at https://www.tradebit.com) got me into a four person gospel group along with Gloria Scott (her song, ''Every Since You Came Into My Life'' is on my new CD). We did a brief stint and three state tour as the opening act for the four brothers known as ''The Winan''s''.
Don''t really know why that didn''t continue but, life goes on and finally things started to happen.I was working pretty steady as a solo act getting work and exposure through word of mouth from fans who are now good friends.

It was while singing in club in Orange County, I met a man named Tony Velasco who took me on as his "Star" of the show.
I enjoyed working with him a lot and (and miss him to this day!) He was great at putting variety shows together and boy did he keep things moving! Most of all he was always very fair and took very good care of those that worked for and with him, going out of his way to make sure all was more than well!!!

Later on my friend, Gloria introduced me to the guy she was dating who had a group called, ''The Amazing Platters''. The female in the group had recently passed so I auditioned and became the new "DISH".

It was an interesting though somewhat trying experience. The group leader was the total opposite of Tony Velasco in every way so that took big time adjustments on my part! Still I hung in there and stayed with the group for 14-1/2 yrs.

Then the opportunity came to be the new female member for
''The Platters'', Featuring The Legendary ''Monroe Powell'' who''s the 3rd lead singer the Platters have ever had and hired by none other than Buck Rams himself, the creator of "The Platters". He has been performing with the Platters now for 34 yrs and still has an awesome voice that has not changed in all his years of singing!

That was an interesting experience as well, which lead to playing on the Strip in Las Vegas, NV., along with other venues in and out of the USA.

As of Jan., 2004, and no longer a member of this group, I''ve set out to "do my own thing" and promote myself and my CD. So I can use all the support I can get!

During my earlier years I also managed to get an AA degree in music while still working (on a 9-5), making contacts and raising a family. That pretty much brings things up-to-date musically to this point!

I very much enjoy singing on my own, it gives me an opportunity to sing songs I don''t get to sing when in a group situtation, when singing "solo" I can better use the gifts and talents God has given me and express myself in song.
I''m a people person so I enjoy ''live'' performances more than anything.
I really feed off the response of the audience, the more they respond, the more I "Perform".
There''s no high like seeing people enjoy what you do. There''s such a range of emotions that you can see, feel and share with people.
You feel like you''re really connected with them on a level that''s hard to express.
I often feel like I just got to know family and friends I''d never met before and it''s one big joyous celebration!

There are times when there''s a complete hush in the crowd and I wonder what happened,(I can sometimes get lost in a song) and then when it''s over there''s wonderful applause and standing ovations!!! Talk about a rush and high! I really enjoy being able to interact with the people.
There''s no comparison to being there on a stage and being able to actually reach out and touch the people you''re entertaining. To laugh and sometimes even cry with your audience, experience the Joy of it all and know you''re giving it all you''ve got... and getting it back!
You can leave there saying... a good time was had by all!

Some of my very good friends I have now, started out as fans that came to hear me sing! Now... those are benefits that money can''t buy!

Those of us who really enjoy this gig don''t call it a job (even though it can be hard work),because we have so much fun while we''re "working".
It does take a lot of dedication since most of the holidays take you away from family and close friends, but it''s a sure thing... you may miss them but you won''t feel ''alone'', not when you step on the stage and the show begins, you loving them and they''re loving you back...

Now isn''t that what show bizness really should be all about???
