Sumer, the area between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers (modern Iraq) was a cornerstone of Western civilization, and the legends of the Goddess have been told in many variations in stories, songs, hymns and poetry. Inanna, Journey of Darkness and Light, written, directed and choreographed by Jezibell, is a Pagan musical theatre production, focusing on the integration of the polarities of light and darkness, symbolized in the mythological realms of Inanna and Ereshkigal, and, in terms of Jungian psychology, our higher selves and our shadows.
Inspired by Middle Eastern music and rhythm, these 13 songs and drum compositions are performed by Jezibell, the Inanna Company and Four Winds Earth Chorus, and they describe Inanna''s journey of growth, development, and integration. In addition to interpreting the Goddess'' story, this music is great for ritual, dance and meditation.
