LAURA AUSTIN
Laura was born in Nashville, TN in 1986. Laura grew up in the small community of Leipers Fork, south of Nashville, on 30 acres, with much of it being a kid’s paradise with 4 wheel trails, horses, and a pond with a zip line across it. Laura loves the outdoors, enjoying snow skiing, wake boarding, water skiing, camping, hiking and riding ATV’s or riding in her jeep.
From the day Laura was born, she was surrounded the sound of music. Her dad is a musician/songwriter and there were always people in the music business around, such as Allan Shamblin, Bernie Nelson, Shane Teeters, John Colgin and others who unknowingly influenced her. Later on, because of personal relationships with Wynonna Judd, Michael and Amy McDonald and Al Perkins to name a few, she had an incredible influence in her music and life.
Laura started singing with a microphone in her Dad’s studio at the young age of 3. In 5th grade, Laura changed schools to attend a public performing arts school in the community where she lived. Through this school, she had many opportunities to work with the Kids On Stage program and the various music people who contributed to that program such as Rick and Laurie Wheeler. At 5, Laura started performing with her Dad and sister, Michelle, in church. Through the years, Laura continued to perform in talent shows, sang for benefits and nursing homes, and sang in an Austin band, Ladies and Gentlemen. Laura started playing the violin at 9 and continued until she was 13, when she became more interested in playing the guitar, performing, singing and writing her own songs.
Laura attended Franklin High School until she moved to Austin, TX, with her family. Laura later graduated from Lake Travis High School. Laura planned to attend Colorado State University, but her heart kept telling her to pursue her dream of being a singer/songwriter, that NOW is the time to GO for it, giving it her all.
Laura loves all kinds of music and has been influenced by many styles, especially Sheryl Crowe, Jill Paquette, Faith Hill and Christina Aguilera….but Country Music is where she best expresses who she is. Laura has recorded in Austin and Nashville. Laura writes her own music, co-writes with her sister, Michelle, or records her own version of songs her Dad has written.
Laura brings more than her fresh look and voice to Country Music but she also brings adventure and a positive attitude while getting dirty, riding ATV’s, driving a pickup or her jeep…..and yet still enjoying the feminine side of being a girl too.
This CD is a reflection of who Laura is and situations of love and love lost she has experienced and her adventurous spirit.
