Details:
Send Up A Signal is a rock quartet based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and includes vocalist Stephen Phillips, guitarist/bassist/backing vocalist Steve Licursi, lead guitarist/backing vocalist Brian Moloney, and drummer Colin Hedden.

Stephen and Brian began collaborating on songs with acoustic guitars in late 2004, but the prospect of a full band wasn''t realized until Stephen and Colin met through a mutual friend. The search for a bassist brought Steve into the lineup, and the four musicians played together for the first time in October 2005. Taking the name Fay Wray, the quartet began working on original material shortly thereafter. Their first song - Separation Anxiety - was conceived when Stephen brought some recently written lyrics to Steve''s apartment in the middle of the night, allowing neither of them to rest until the song was complete. After several months of performing and solidifying the band''s musical identity, the four members traveled to Valencia Recording Studios in Silver Spring, Maryland to record their five-song debut EP, The Philadelphia Story, with producer Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, I Am Ghost, Senses Fail).

Though immensely happy with the product of the recording session, scheduling difficulties put the band''s creative efforts on hold for a period following the release of The Philadelphia Story. By the next summer, however, they were back with a vengeance and a new name, Send Up A Signal, drawn from a line in a Billy Joel song. The band immediately began writing new material, all the while performing in Philadelphia and branching out into New York.

The year 2008 saw Send Up A Signal in creative overdrive. In June, with seven new songs ready for production, the band traveled to The Pilot Studio in Boonton, New Jersey to record with former Hidden In Plain View guitarist Rob Freeman (Armor For Sleep, Hit The Lights, Houston Calls). The finished full-length album, entitled Distance, is a showcase of the band''s diverse influences and musical styles. With lyrics penned by three different band members and music created by the combined skill of all four members, Distance represents Send Up A Signal''s most aggressive effort to date.
