Details:
Born and raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area, C.T. Freeman started guitar lessons at age 7 and has been playing ever since. He credits much of his ability to countless hours spent playing along with albums. Though coming more from the folk pop movement of the seventies and not liking to be confined within a genre category, C.T.’s emphasis on melody and lyrical content gave him an appreciation for Country Music. He wrote his first song when he was about 14 and has been a member of Nashville Songwriters Association, attended their annual Songwriters Symposium and awards banquet, and has copyrights on dozens of his original songs. In 2000 he released a recording project showcasing some of his compositions; the CD titled SPOTLIGHT, includes a memorial song written upon the death of John Denver, an early musical influence of C.T.’s.

C.T. gave his first live performances during his high school years. He played lead guitar in a high school production of Godspell, and played at a Madison Avenue folkie hangout known as the Red Horse Hollow, a coffee shop in Lakewood, Ohio. While attending college, he was able to continue refining his songwriting skills. In 1986 he and college-mate Mike Kearns formed the guitar vocal duo, "Two of Us," which briefly played the Cleveland area until their breakup a year later.

After moving to Columbus, C.T. played solo gigs at Campus parties and occasional restaurants/cafés. While living in Haikou (Hainan Island-China) in ‘95-96, C.T. played regularly in coffee shops, bars, and nightclubs which were frequented by both foreign and Chinese patrons. He was spotlighted on Hainan Television a couple of times. C.T. says,
" I was surprised how much the Chinese like American music and how familiar many of them are with it. I guess music is the universal language." C.T ‘s first CD, SPOTLIGHT, was released on his own label, Olentangy River Records & Publishing. His label is BMI registered as a publisher and he is a BMI registered songwriter.

C.T released a single, “Love will Bring Me Back To You” in 2005 to radio stations in Europe and Australia and received favorable reviews. C.T. hopes to expand his record company/publishing company’s distribution and marketing base while continuing to write and produce his own music. Of late C.T. has been collaborating with Nashville producer, recording engineer, and bass player extraordinaire Dick McVey, who has produced several, singles for C.T.

After returning from a six month stay in China in 2005, C.T. took some time off from performing and writing music for his personal life. Unable to put down music for long and inspired by the vocal technique of Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban, in 2008 C.T. began studying Italian singing technique with former Opera singer and Capital University voice professor Gene Allen. C.T. is gathering material together for a new album to be recorded and released sometime in 2009. The exact content has not been determined yet, but may include some cuts of classic songs, as well as more of his own compositions.
