Details:
We have been performing together since 1994, and have been married since 1995. We met while we were both working as solo performers in the DC area in the club and coffeehouse circuit.. We began dating, and, while we didn''t really plan to start performing as a duo, would often sit in at each other''s gig. We decided to make a demo, for potential duo gigs, and ended up making a full length CD, Tocoi Light, that represented both of our musical visions, and discovered that we were, in fact, musically simpatico. We have played together ever since.

We live in Fredricksburg, VA, a suburb of Washington DC. Laurie was born in Kentucky, went to Berea College, lived in Japn for a year, and got her masters degree at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She became a fixture on the vibrant local folk scene there before moving to DC. Peter was born in New York and has been sliding south ever since. He discovered the guitar at 18, and that was that.

Our first CD did well for us. We got some nice regional accolades, and got into a few auspicious venues. A two year experiment in playing full time showed us that we didn''t really want to rely on music to pay the mortgage, so we went back to working day jobs, and playing on the side. Laurie works for CSR, a consulting firm in Arlington, VA, and Peter manages Picker''s Supply, a music store in Fredericksburg, VA, and we perform 80 to 100 dates a year.

Laurie''s background in international development studies has helped develop a love for world travel. We have traveled extensively, and over the last few years have wound our way through China and Southeast Asia, India, Nepal, Japan, Indonesia, East Africa and South America.....just in case anyone was wondering why we took so long to make a second album.
