Peoples Collective is an original music project produced by Curtis Peoples. Curtis Peoples is a native of West Texas. He has been involved in the music business for over 25 years. He is a graduate and former instructor of the Sound Technology program at South Plains College. He has worked in recording studios and has been a production manager for many events and venues. In 2001 he helped launch the Crossroads of Music Archive at the Southwest Collection Texas Tech University. He is currently a co-director for the archive, which actively collects materials related to West Texas music.
Over the years, Curtis Peoples has played in and recorded with numerous bands. He has now finished work on a self-produced CD of his original music. The CD is titled “Peoples Collective.” The CD contains 11 songs and is best described as Album Oriented Rock—music reminiscent of the 1970s. The CD features some of the best talent West Texas has to offer. The artist lineup on the CD includes:
• Curtis Peoples (lead vocals and vocables, acoustic guitar, & percussion)
• Brian McRae (harmony and background vocals, vocables, lead guitar, percussion, bass, drums, and lap steel)
• Doug Smith (piano & vocable)
• Lloyd Maines (steel guitar, resonator guitar, & slide acoustic guitar)
• Todd Caldwell (Hammond organ)
• Lesley Sawyer (harmony and background vocals & vocables)
• Rita Box Peek (Native American flute)
The CD is produced by Curtis Peoples, Alan Crossland, & Brian McRae and was recorded, mixed and mastered by Alan Crossland at Route 1, Acuff Studios.
