MP3 Nick Penney - Portraits of a City Skyline
Written during an unusually warm fall in Boston, this album attempts to capture the busy, dirty, and dishearteningly mechanical reality of life in a major city. The resulting aural snapshot is a blend of dark ambiance and lively electronics.

Details:
Nick Penney is a young, up-and-coming musician from the hip college town of Fort Collins, Colorado, though his first and second albums were produced in Boston, Massachusetts. Classically trained as a percussionist, Nick developed an interest in music with complicated rhythms from a young age, and has expressed that interest in his own work. During his time at Boston University, Nick studied under Joshua Fineberg, an acclaimed composer of contemporary electronic music, and a former professor at Harvard University. There he developed an interest in not only the structure and form of music, but the way in which listeners'' perceptions of each individual sound play into their impression of the music as a whole. Nick has also studied math and computer science in depth, and his technical background is evident in his music, where he often uses and modifies computer-based instruments to create unique and interesting sounds. His first two albums, Portraits of a City Skyline and Portraits of a Mountain Sunset, attempt to capture the subtle and various features of (and differences between) day-to-day life in an urban environment, and a summer spent in a quiet mountain town.
