.I am Christopher Ryan Wyckoff "AKA Pooh-Bare". I am a man bourn in a bikers family raised to believe that nothing big or small cannot be accomplished if your willing to work for it. I have had many ups and many downs that have carved out the man that writes this bio today. Happily married with two children I work tireless hours to create my music. As I came up I listened to acts like Bob Seager, Skynard, Mega Death, Metalica , Kiss, AC/DC. I progressed into Bands like Korn, Bizkit, and some local acts like Stuck Mojo. My favorite bands right now are Slipknot, Mudnayne, Rammstien, and Disturbed. Musically im driven by power and an exceptionally up beat tempo to express anger and pain, and I do my best work at around 120 BPM. My work tends to be a self styled blend of just about any thing I can get my hands on. I hear music just a bit differently than most writers, producers, or engineers since Im forced by my perception of this whole industry to do it all on my own. I tend to start with a very metallic drumbeat. When I listen to drums I look for things like strong foot work and heavy tom work.. Im not too keen on banging the snare drum like it was a rug that has too much dirt in it. The cymbal work has to be electric since they tend to carry all the high tones in the regular instruments that I like to use. I proceed from there to a driving bass line that does''nt clash against the kick drums but creates a swing type bouncing affect very similar to Hip-Hop. In essence I try to create a rhythm that pounds like drums of war from the Dark Age. Coming from a world of mosh pits and head banging its only natural that I seek out guitars that rip through the mix like leather face through a screaming teenage girl. When I add my guitars to the mix I like them to be thick and crunchy to bring an air of anger to the tracks I use them in. Once I get the guitars in the mix I like to add texture to the track with elements of techno. I like synthetic sounds that send chills through your body. When I get around to writing the vocals for a track there usually already written in my head. I don''t write tracks around a catchy hook like most but the verse. I prefer a dark morbid approach to the same street you may have grown up on but from the other side. My vocals are a rap oriented but in no way influenced bye any rap acts. Oddly enough I never intended to be a rapper but it seamed to be a natural progression. When I rap I tend to have an aggravated angry some times cocky tone. A person I once knew, from a blissful place known to us Columbia SC natives in the scene as Rockerfellas, once referred to my style of rap as " Loud angry white boy Biker rap ". I would imagine that''s the most appropriate term for my vocals. When it all comes together my music in my opinion can not be compared to anther act. It would be like apples to oranges. The album "Locked Out of Heaven Kicked Out of Hell" is a mash up of many different musical styles that create an experience seldom produced in any music today. Songs from the record like "Windowpain" present a look at a reoccurring inner conflict from the perspectives of both parts of a split personality. The song "Rain" is a song intended to purvey anger from a rainy day and chaos. My favorite song on this new record has got to be " I " . This song is an introspective look at the world I live in today. I look at this song as my testament to wanting a break from the chains of the sociological world we all live in. It''s a realization that we work our whole lives for a greater purpose and its waved in our faces but never put in our hands no matter how vigorously we reach. "I" is a song the in my opinion captures the essence of this whole album. It shows the true emotions and thought of a man that cant conform to either side of the street and just walks right down the middle of the ever harder to see line between heaven and hell. In a nutshell this record is an emotional roller coaster track with a freight train rolling on its rails.
