Details:
The Red Corn Band is a Native American Alternative Blues/Spoken Word act. Members include Tuba City resident George Multine, III (Navajo) on guitar,Los Angeles based guitarist Tim Sampson (Creek), the well known actor from Northern Exposure and son of the legendary Will Sampson, and veteran TV personality Jonathan Joss (White Mountain Apache) who is the voice of John Redcorn on FOX''s King of the Hill on vocals.

About The Band

Band founder Jonathan Joss had been toying with a formula for a band for some years in between acting gigs (Almost Heroes, Walker, Texas Ranger, Johnson Family Vacation) and his sporadic gigs on King Of The Hill. Joss is a resident of Marina Del Rey, CA and held rehearsels on his boat. Joss finally hooked up with fellow actor Tim Sampson on guitar in 2003. Sampson, a second generation actor, received his guitar from his father, Will Sampson(Poltergeist 2, Vegas), and was still playing that same guitar some three decades later when the two began to rehearse in Joss'' boat. At that time the band was called John Red Corn and Big Mountain Fudge Cake. Joss borrowed the title of his character for use in the band name and later FOX borrowed the band name for use in several episodes. Joss had fostered The Fudge Cake band as a novelty jam band that played back up to Joss'' stand up approach and ironic lyrics about contemporary, Hollywood Indian life. Sampson''s arrival signaled the maturing of Red Corn''s music. Sampson was an artist in the classic sense. He had just finished a stint on Broadway reprising his father''s role in Tony Award winning revival of One Flew Over The Cuckoo''s Nest opposite Gary Sinise. Whether acting or song writing Sampson is very serious about his craft. Meanwhile, John Red Corn and Big Mountain Fudge Cake became the property of FOX for King Of The Hill purposes (on the TV series Joss'' band includes Tom Petty and Trace Adkins) This move was mutually beneficial for both parties because Fudgecake crept into animated television lore and there after The Red Corn Band was born, a title suitable for a serious act.

The Band still bolsters its free flowing blues fronted by Joss'' raspy spoken word with vocal leads by Tim Sampson in other areas to soften the vibe. At live shows one can''t escape the inevitable stand up of Jonathan Joss. Nonetheless, The Red Corn Band is dark as much as they are humorous and will provide you with one of the most dynamic nights of acoustic entertainment you''ve ever attended.

About the Recording

Joss and Sampson hooked up with the independent promoter/producer Adrian Brown at the 2003 Native American Music Awards. Five months later, with the production support of Brown, Red Corn traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona, to record at Sacred Mountain Studios. On a shoestring budget Red Corn recorded a full length album in one night. The project is basically a live album that captures The Red Corn Experience in all of it''s intensity. Thus the album''s title sums up that six or seven smoggy hours of Red Corn Sessions.

Red Corn Sessions is a raw collection of acoustic, alternative blues and spoken word tracks that sing of one of the many states of the contemporary American Indian with a comedic and ironic passion.
