RisingSun began in 2000, in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when Jacquelyn Davis (vocals, percussions) timidly approached fellow co-worker Philip Murphy (vocals, guitars, keyboards, woodwinds, percussions) and asked if he would allow her to write lyrics to one of his songs. She had heard and loved the cd ''Orpheus Rising'' by his band, Rapier Wit, and was hoping that he would agree. The result was the timeless classic ''Pray There''s Time'', a perpetual gallop through illusory instrumentation and visceral vocals. Though not originally intended, this collaboration led to the birth of RisingSun and cemented a mutual respect and admiration for each other''s talents and contributions.
Their debut cd ''Cycle Of Awareness'' is anything but proletarian. It is an audio painting of boundless energy reflecting a seasoned band that is at the height of their craft. Join with them as they journey into uncharted areas of melodic vocal intoxication and instrumental grace powered by pulsating percussions.
Although Philip and Jackie have played in numerous bands throughout the years, they do not plan to perform live until the completion of their second cd which is currently in progress.
