Details:
Born Daniel R. Sennema, Eli Weed was exposed to music at a very early age. At the age of 8, he remembers staying up past his bedtime to listen to his father''s barbershop quartet, The Henchmen, rehearse. His mother introduced him to the piano before he could read and used to give him change to learn songs and keep him out of trouble.

Eli''s first grade teacher, Mrs. Roper, called him "her little pitch-pipe" and had little Eli stand on a chair to lead the class in song. Eli soon auditioned for the "Time For Sounds" television show with Arletta Railey on Educational Television in Columbia S.C. On "Time For Sounds" Eli sang on location and in the studio for a one-season run until his family moved to Fairfax, VA. It was there, at the tender age of 12, that Eli was told by his guitar instructor that he would "never make a lead guitar player, maybe rhythm" which instilled him with great confidence.

At the age of 13, Eli discovered the bass guitar and convinced his parents to help him purchase a Gibson Grabber Bass and a Sunn Amplifier that barely fit in the back of their VW Bus. Eli went on to sing in church choirs and sang bass for the Singing Generals in Springfield, Illinois under the direction of Mr. Moose.

At 13, he formed his first working band. "We used to play all the local teen skating rinks as well as for the Civitans and the Woman''s Club. We called ourselves Airborne because that sounded pretty cool when we were young".

His early exposure to making music continued through high school and college as Weed played bass guitar in an assortment rock bands including Hyjynx, Rude Lucy, and Scruffy Moses in Columbia, SC (home of Hootie and the Blowfish). He graduated with a BA in Medai ARts from the University of South Carolina in 1985. https://www.tradebit.com

When he moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in 1998, he began performing solo, with only his acoustic guitar and harmonica.

During his formative years, Weed''s bands opened for such major acts as Nightranger, Rick Derringer, the Outlaws, Alvin Lee, and Rare Earth and Blackfoot. Weed once shared the stage with the late Danny Joe Brown of Molly Hatchet fame.

Siting influences such as Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, ZZ Topp, The Eagles, and the Doors, 2004 brought the release of Weed''s first solo recording, "Tales of the Strand - Volume 1." The project was recorded in Myrtle Beach, SC, at Island Green Studios. Weed plays all the instruments on his CD. The recording blends his soft romantic style with spirited acoustic rockers showcasing Weed''s range and versatility. Weed''s CD release, "Tales of the Strand - Volume 1", is a retrospective look at life on the Grand Strand. Cuts from his CD are currently enjoying airplay on "Dead Dog Saloon''s Homegrown" on The Sound 107.1 .
