"I Want a Friend Over," was a very special project for me as it was written and recorded with my 3 daughters, Bailey, Katie and Marie, ages 12, 10 and 8. We were fortunate to work with 3 fabulous musicians, as well, Bijoux Barbosa on bass, Brian Dillon on drums and Jeff Jenkins mixing/recording.
The music on this CD reflects the themes of family life, school and relationships, and though most of the tunes are catchy and fun, there are also a few touching ballads.
My intent, with this recording, was to give the 5-12 year old listener (and their parents) an alternative to teen pop-which many of them are not ready for-and ''baby bop''- which many of them have outgrown (something between Brittney Spears and The Wiggles). I want kids to know that they can write and sing about ANYTHING; bandaids, tests, school stressors, getting bossed around, grandmas and grandpas, elephants, friends, etc., and that making music really IS what it''s all about!!
(As a side note, "Band-aid Bossa'' and "Grandma is a Biker Chick", made the first cut in the International Songwriting Competition this year-out of 14,000 songs submitted)!
