I love music…GOOD music. I have been influenced by many different styles and don’t exactly fit into one box. My desire is to write excellent music that will be appreciated by many, crossing over the lines that separate style… songs that are an expression of myself, my experiences, my struggles and issues that are universal to the human soul. I want to write music that identifies with people at their core…honestly… I want to be known, and I want to know you… I would love to hear your feedback… thoughts…memories… revelations… revelations! Perhaps they will become a song...
Writing a bio is a difficult task. I know now why so many artists pay someone else to write one for them. I would have to write a book… to tell you who I am… because I am a storyteller… and details matter to me. Emotion and passion cannot be described with mere words… this is why I am so thankful for the song… the telling of “me” is in my songs, in my music. It is emotional. It is passionate. It is raw. It is honest…. transparent... sometimes uncomfortable. And somehow, all of that adds up to comfort, freeing, soothing, healing, challenging… and addictive.
So this is what I am told… by friends and strangers.
I could write a really intriguing, powerful, and compelling bio that “sells” me like all of the millions of other aspiring artists out there trying to get a break. But I would rather just tell you the truth. It took me a long time to get here. I am not a “teen sensation”, “twenty-something” shoe-in. I am 35 years old. I have four children. I am single. And I have had enough life experience to cover three of my lifetimes. (Some would say that makes me an old soul). When I started this project, I was counseled that I should keep it a secret that I am a single mother, and that I should be mysterious about my age. I am sad to say that I listened to that advise for a while, and wonder, how many people might have been blessed by my journey during the process… ? I stopped listening! I hope that there are people out there that will experience my music and say to themselves, “If she can do it, then so can I” whether it’s about music or furthering education or showing your next door neighbor the pencil drawing you did of their backyard, or learning to read when you are 75. I have been given a gift... it is beautiful, and I want to share it! For far too long, I allowed the world’s expectations to press me down. No more! For the first time in my life, I feel like I am finally living! I am pushing… pressing against the odds… and I am thankful for a bullish determination to do what I love… Music! In some ways, I wish I had done it 15 years ago. But then, it would not be what it is…
I finished this project on a shoestring... but it is a top quality CD. Several talented, gracious and generous souls who believed in me and believed my story should be heard made this possible. I could not have done it with out them… Chris Parker, Mary Rusher, and Jeff Roach. Then, I saved and waited patiently for the time when I could introduce it to the world with artwork that I am proud of… I am thankful to say that time has come. I am currently seeking a distribution deal, but will do everything I can on my own to expose it through the internet. Please help me! If you love it… post it on your site! Email it to your friends! Twitter it, blog it, and do what ever the new ”it” is to promote it! I need every bit of help I can get!!!
