Dr. Yoder holds a Bachelor’s degree from Goshen College, and Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois. At Illinois, he studied piano with Soulima Stravinsky, composition with Gordon Binkerd and choral music with J. Harold Decker.
During the past forty five years, Dr. Yoder has taught vocal music at the elementary and middle school levels, and choral music at the high school, college and university levels. In these positions, he frequently wrote sacred choral music for SATB, TTBB, SSA acapella groups as well as choral arrangements with instrumental accompaniments to fit the needs and abilities of the voices in his choirs. Many of these choral pieces were written for specific purposes.
