Details:
Subtle Etiquette delivers a tasty mix of organic grooves, sonic ear candy, jazzy licks, and seductive vocals. With Bianca at the helm, her catchy melodies will follow you into the future. Bianca has been singing and performing publicly since she was 7. She has developed a unique style influenced by David Bowie, Bjork, Portishead, Basement Jaxx, and Erika Badu. Bianca has privately studied vocals, keys, bass, guitar, flute and percussion. Her true talent is her amazing ability to improvise vocally and mix quirky electronics into groove. During her studies in the University town of Northern BC to become a Dental Hygienist, she vented by improving at the local blues club. She made a cool $50 on her first paid gig to sing whatever she felt like. Toting her sampler and sequencer every where, she started mixing her electronic vibes, infectious melodies and lyrics on love and learning with live brass and percussion. Her sassy personality carried her smooth vocals to create mouth watering performances. She tested it out at house parties, and other notable musical happenings such as Jezebel Jam, Under the Moon and Rivers Day Festival. Bianca also organized and showcased in the first live electronica event "Supersonica." In the span of 6 months she was covered by the local TV news and paper 4 times. When it comes to live events, her talent truly shines. She knows how to "charge the audience" [The Free Press]. Bianca "started with a spark of an idea and has grown into a thunderbolt" [The Free Press]. She is "Bionica" [The Now].
After receiving the "Gold Ring" for overall achievement at the CNC Dental Hygiene Program, the singing hygienist headed off to Vancouver to gain experience and develop her sound. Then she met Shawn Hall, Alex Fane, Brennan Saul, and Geoff Roop.
All the included collaborators have over 10 years training and experience in live performance and touring both nationally and internationally. Their combined efforts on the self titled release will surely make a mark both in the nu jazz and urban electronica scene.
The album was recorded and produced in Vancouver by Shawn Hall at both "Old Sofa Music" and "Profile" studios. It was mixed by Dan Kearley of the Maximum Jazz/Universal artists "Sekoya" and mastered by Jamie Sitar at Suite Sound Labs. This phenomenal collection of tracks is mirrored to the outstanding live delivery and powerful sensual presence of Bianca.
