INFLUENCES
It is hard to name all of the musicians and different types or styles of music that have influenced Precious over the years and throughout her singing and songwriting career. The strongest influence has most certainly come from those performers and artists with whom she has had the honor to perform, such as Prince, and George Clinton, with Parliament Funkadelic, as well as those whom she has otherwise met face to face, such as Naughty by Nature, OutKast, Next, and ESG, among others. They all lent an ear, and took the time to give honest advice on the music industry, generally, and on building and managing a career in it. Other artists and artistes, to whom Precious has listened over the years, including Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Taylor Dayne and Mahalia Jackson, amongst many others, have also inspired her unique and powerful vocal style.

The joy came when Prince invited some of his guest on stage to sing with him Party like its 1999 it was an inspiration and honor.
New Year''s Eve event, shown on pay per view cable television. You can even spot her onstage in the telecast. Precious was always networking, and she had the opportunity that evening to meet George Clinton, Rosie Gaines, and of course, Prince, the host of the show. It was then that Precious realized she was not yet fully prepared to properly and professionally exploit her skills. She knew that she had the raw talent and drive to make it in the music business, but she had to educate herself about the industry. So, she resolved to learn - reading, asking questions, attending talent fairs, and artist showcases, and industry seminars, and networking; while at the same time writing those lyrics and testing the limits of her voice in the recording studio. She was quite surprised to see that George Clinton recognized her when he
was in Denver with Parliament Funkadelic, some years later. He even allowed her to join him with their performance of "Atomic Dog", live, on stage. This just goes to show, you guys, that networking DOES indeed pay off.

Despite the many and often substantial obstacles in her path, the serious commitment of time and energy required, and the length of the road ahead of her, Precious always continued to work hard on her studies, her writing, and her singing. She admits that growing up in Houston was no easy task, but like that old adage, she says, "what doesn''t kill you only makes you stronger". That awesome strength is what she gives us now, through her music, and it comes straight from the heart.
