CD REVIEW

On their sizzling sophomore release, J. Nathan Paige and True Praise Ensemble have definitely proven that there is nobody like Jesus.

Titled "Ain''t Nobody Like Him," Paige and the ensemble turn it up a notch from their debut album entitled "Fix It." In order to deliver punchy choir fire, Paige and the ensemble blend the innovative twists and turns of contemporary gospel music with traditional flavor. This incredible blend of traditional and contemporary gospel is sure to win the hearts of gospel music lovers all over the world.

J. Nathan and musical director Roslyn Chatmon ensure that their signature sound is put into play, and that TPE is in top form as they offer up twelve tracks of nothing but pure ministry. The album was recorded live at the Albany Municipal Auditorium, located in TPE''s hometown of Albany, GA. Chatmon and Paige on B-3 are joined by Andrew Caldwell Jr. (keyboard), Alford Forbes, Jermaine Hall, and Joel Powell (bass), Aaron Edmonson and Andrew Caldwell Jr. (guitar), Cornelius Drake and Tracy Williams (drums), Vinson Davis (saxophone), and Roderick Johnson (percussion).

The audience is captivated immediately as J. Nathan & True Praise open up, giving reverence to the King with their soul stirring rendition of "Holy, Holy, Holy." Appearing as a guest, Carolyn Drake''s "Oh Lord Deliver Me Out" has Paige and TPE punching it all the way, but hold on to your seats, because the earth shaking vocals of special guest lead vocalist Francine Jones, who often appeared on Bobby Jones Gospel, leaves you standing in awe, as she and True Praise encourage the heart with "Nevertheless."

Now, you''re probably asking, "Where''s the tradition?" You will find exactly what you need to satisfy that craving for Sunday Go To Meetin'' music on tracks four, seven , and eight. Track four entitled "Restoration," led by Eric Raines will transcend your mind to the good ''ole chu-ch; the hand-clappin'', foot-stumpin'', fire-burnin'' church. J. Nathan & TPE does this song as only South GA can do it. Songwriter Cornelius Drake, known by some as the singing preacher, takes us back - way back - to the "Wilderness," reminding us of how it felt when we came out of whatever we were in. "You Can Make It," is one of those songs with the traditional feel, but embellished with contemporary flava.

Chatmon allowed the Lord to use her mightily, as she wrote one of the most anointed songs on this project. "The Love Song" is all worship and nothing less. TPE also displays their vocal range abilities on this song of worship. You''ll hear it for yourself, that''s if you don''t get caught up in worship before the end of the song.

If that isn''t enough, guest lead vocalist, Vernon Weathers, knocks the audience off their feet with his fourteen year old vocal talent. The young man has skills.

This project is empowered and anointed to deliver and break yokes of bondage. After going from the sultry, "anthematic" sounds of "Holy, Holy, Holy" to the bass-bumpin'' vibrations of "This Is How We Praise Him," you will agree with the TPE family that there AIN''T NOBODY

LIKE HIM! There is no question that under the favor of God, J. Nathan Paige & True Praise Ensemble are on their way to gospel music greatness.
