A great deal of the Rock n'' Roll tradition has to do with the objectification of women. The development of this seems much like the mental development of a young man learning how to deal with women. First we had innocent love. We slowly added subtle hints that it was not so innocent. Then it was blatant innuendo. At some point we were blessed with Cock Rock. Today you would be remiss to miss the just plain blatant visualizations in Hip Hop. For every step we were increasing the objectification and becoming more misogynistic as we went along. True a great deal of this could be perceived as good-natured maybe. But it was time for a reaction. And born was the sensitive narrative of Emo. Emo boy would not take advantage of you. But the truth had to come out eventually. And it did with the recent advent of the Sensitive Jerk Narrative found today. This is where the sensitive Emo boy will tell you that he really feels your pain, he won''t objectify you, and he''s really sorry about it but he''ll treat you like dirt anyway just like his Cock Rock ancestors. He just doesn''t sing about it triumphantly, he does so regretfully. At least the Cock Rock girls knew what they were getting into.
This album is neither regretful nor boastful. Women are people who have body parts. They exist together in a harmony that should be appreciated and sung about. Rock n'' Roll is good to do this even if not in the ways it has in the past. So I''d like to offer up what may be the equivalent to consensual objectification.
