The Men of Distinction is a fabulous high energy Party Band, based out of Columbia, SC, that has put together a splendid recording resume over their long career. This 15 song package showcases some of the band''s highlights and reveals the truly diverse capabilities of this polished group of musicians. The group has been a major player in the Carolina Beach Music circuit, with a number of important recordings, including “It Won’t Be This Way Always”, the CAMMY award winning Beach song of the year for 1996, and “Beez That Way Sometime”, a great 60 sweet soul shufflin’ smoothie that was included in Ripete’s very popular Sun Sand Surf and Suds various artist package. The building truly gets to shakin’ when the guys tear into Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “The House Is Rockin”, and it doesn’t let up an ounce with their exuberant rendition of the Larry Williams’ New Orleans novelty, “Short Fat Fannie”. “You’ve Got To Earn It” has become a fave with the European Northern and Modern Soul deejays, and “Big and Hot” continues to be a party favorite with the group. While all the group members sing lead and harmony vocals at times, the addition of golden throated Gerald Lyles as an upfront entity, has brought a whole new dimension to the group’s sound. For a good earful of true authentic soul singing, check out “Action (Speaks Louder Than Words), and their current single climbing the Beach and Shag charts, “The Ice Cream Song”. Sublime.
