Chris Doolittle (aka Mr. Doolittle) has been playing music since he was 11 years old, when he played his first gig at a local McDonalds in his home town of Simi Valley, California. He has been in love with writing and performing music ever since.
In addition to children’s music, Chris plays guitar, sings, and writes for the Kansas City rock band “Frank’s Dream,” and was a founding member of the locally popular 80’s band “The Front.” He started to perform children''s music when his wife asked him to play for her children in her Montessori classroom when they were first dating. Since then she has consistently "booked" him to play for her kids and the other teachers’ kids at Highlawn Montessori in Prairie Village, KS. Mr. Doolittle credits Highlawn’s kids for inspiring him to create his current album "Out of the Box."
Chris Doolittle loves writing, recording and performing children''s music. He also incorporates his own children''s musical talents on his current album. Mr. Doolittle''s son Alex, 16, plays drums on some of the songs and his other two sons are eager to help on his next album.
Mr. Doolittle feels strongly about the use of music to help children learn and express themselves. He believes the songs should be fun and educational for both the parents and the kids and hopes that he has accomplished this on his album.
“Out of the Box” is guitar-driven alternative rock for your kids. Blending early rock-n-roll, power pop, and a dash of twangy country, Mr. Doolittle has created a fun, edgy, and educational album for you and your children. A few of the tracks on “Out Of The Box,” such as “The Big Pink Tower” and “Walking On The Line,” are Montessori-specific rock songs that Montessori children should love, but that others will enjoy as well. Parents will especially like the cheeky irony of the Johnny Cash inspired “Wallking on the Line,” the dead-on Elvis impersonation in “The Elvis Pokey” (reminiscent of “Viva Las Vegas”-era Presley), and the hilarious sincerity of “Jammys On,” a bluesy, funky rocker about the pains of not wanting to go to bed that should make going to bed a rockin’ experience from now on. The rest of the album simply rocks! From “The Ballad of Milo the Cat,” a bittersweet and funny true story about the Doolittles’ lost kitten, to “Trees,” a catchy, bouncy tune to help you remember the difference between deciduous and coniferous trees, “Out of the Box” will rock you and your children. So go ahead and get “Out of the Box”!
