Details:
There is track 2 (Bad Time for Falling in Love) featuring five time Grammy winner Dave Benoit, which was #1 on the internet Jazz charts in 2002 and 2003 beating out Natalie Cole (Unforgettable) and Norah Jones (Don''t Know Why) for 2 weeks! Other than Bad Time, these are unreleased songs. Here''s the scoop...It was around 1990...and my friend, Cornelius Bumpus (Sax and Vocalist), member of Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers, was staying with me in Southern California (from New York) between Steely Dan concerts for a day here and there. I started recording these tunes with him (Another Magic Carpet Ride - Let The Music Play On - Born Under A Bad Sign) while I was experimenting with my new midi keyboards and studio upgrades. Most of this CD is a result of those sunny Southern California days. The Cd contains three vocal tunes and the rest is instrumental. Although I play all the tracks and instruments on many of these tunes, I also feature Cornelius Bumpus on Sax and five time Grammy Award winner "Dave Benoit" on keyboards (recorded eight years earlier in a Studio City recording studio). These “Soundtrax from Southern California” contain Smooth jazz, Jazz Rock, Rhythm and Blues, and even an Italian Classical guitar piece at the end. I like to call the blending of my guitars and Cornelius'' sax my “Guitar Orchestra” concept which occurs on “Another Magic Carpet Ride” and other tunes as well. It''s a big sound. Cornelius unveils an enchanting soprano sax solo on “Let Music Play On” as well. Other contributors to the album are: Steffen Presley on keyboards and engineering (Changes and Sad Sad Day), Ron Kakebeen (Sad Sad Day - bass), Greg Stevens on drums, Tony Newton on bass, Tony Flynn on vocals (Bad Time for Falling in Love) Steve Anderson on Bass, Casey Cheurelli on Drums, and Jimmy Stewart as producer and rhythm guitar on Bad Time.
