Real Cool Capers is a fresh electronica endeavor that originated from a string of after-hours jams at a Brooklyn pawn shop.

The project was written and produced by Scot Cortese (see also Vunkturi), a musician who, a few years back, was working a couple nights a week at a pawnshop in Brooklyn''s Greenpoint neighborhood. On occasion, friends would stop by the shop at closing time and the crew would mess around with the various instruments and gear that sat around the cluttered room. Eventually, Scot assembled a bare-bones analog/digital recording setup and began taping the sessions and splicing sounds together.
The players made use of nearly every instrument in the pawn shop, from 80s sound modules and drum machines, to dusty electric pianos and comical keyboards, to vintage jazz guitars and upright bass. The result is a flavorful mix of old and new sounds with a modern lounge groove.
Initially, Real Cool Capers was passed around as "Industry Only". This re-mastered version (NYC''s Westside Sound) is the first commercial release.
In addition to having aired on Sex and the City (#107) and Malcolm in the Middle (#521), and the Kitchen Confidential pilot episode, Television Robbers can also be found on the Shanghai Lounge II compilation.
