Music has always been a natural calling for Twitch, (real name Claire Carreras).
This little ball of curls is a singing, dancing menace on the stage and is a thrill to watch. Twitch’s musical influences are a medley of punk rock, metal, pop, hip-hop, dance hall and blues. She piles all these genres into her feel-good-jump up and down-Rock&Roll anthems with sing-along lyrics and catchy riffs.
At the age of four, Twitch (born Claire Carreras) was singing made up lullabies to her little brothers and sisters. It was cute, but it also foreshadowed her uncanny songwriting abilities.
Some of her early songs include “My cat from the corner store” a song written at age eight about a cat that she kills by overfeeding, which she wrote for the girl from Denmark who rented a room in the family house.
There were the songs about sisters Helva, Laura and Karla in Spanish, which highlighted all the things that were annoying about them. She began writing full-length original tunes, accompanied on the piano and continued to sing for anyone who would listen.
She set up a rehearsal space in the garage and would study popular music and practice playing piano. At age fourteen she was given her first guitar, a purple Fender strat’ that you can see her posing with in several photographs.
She taught herself how to play and continued to write and study her favorite artists success stories. She auditioned and put together a band in her first year of high school called ‘Anti’. The band consisted of former classmates Theresa, Aimee and Levi, for which she played guitar and wrote lyrics but didn’t sing.
It was her escape from home, and often her and Levi would sit in his spare room and write music, pondering over our future in the music industry. Her passion for music manifested into many smaller venue shows, other bands, and a few collaborations.
As her musical tastes grew, so did her writing styles. There’s a lot of her in each and every song. Twitch & the Limphnodes was born when a mentor to Twitch, Richard Tran, observed her talents playing at local schools as a solo act. He saw the potential and suggested the idea of having a band back her and recording a demo.
This added a whole ''other dimension to the rising stars act. It gave her the opportunity to properly promote herself and the option to take her solo act in several different directions. Now Twitch can offer a flurry of different shows. From full rock band, to solo with microphone and dancers, Twitch and the Limphnodes can deliver for any occasion, on any stage, for any audience.
