Leela does all the traditional harp stuff like weddings, elegant dinners, cigar tastings and dog funerals, but on Love’s Gift, she allows her passionate heart to flow through the strings, weaving together colorful threads of improvisation and composition, inspired by her long-time practices of meditation and healing.
Unconventional and yet traditional in her approach to Life, Yoga and Music, Leela is perfectly matched to her instrument, the Paraguayan Harp. The art of playing this beautiful instrument is taught in the old way,individually from teacher to student, rather than in the setting of a college or university. One such Maestro, Jorge Gurascier (d), delighted in passing along instruction in how to break all the rules, maneuver around the limitations of the instrument and perform awesome, dazzling acoustic special effects.
