Leslie first started writing music at the age of 14, when he wrote and performed a precocious song about a draft dodger for a grade 9 music project. His teacher was envious of his success and gave him a ''B''. Next year he wrote a complete rock opera entitled "Return to Oz" and organized a school performance - he got a ''B'' on that one too.
Leslie worked with a variety of bands and then worked intensely with his brother in a band called The Chromatic Nibblers. After several successful years and a season playing in the Florida Keys, the brothers parted ways. Recordings released during that time include ''74-''89.

and Pieces of the Puzzle - For Chromatic Fanatics Only was released in 1990.
Leslie took a hiatus from music writing and performing until 1999 and then released a rock album called Harmless with the band Fire and Water.
In 2002 he started performing at Guelph''s Songwriter''s Cafe at Manhattan''s Music Club. By 2006, he released his latest offering, "In the Face of It All".
Leslie continues to write and has taken a break from performing to meet the needs of his day job (working nights as a long distance trucker). Lisa, Steve, and Steve''s dog Kirby are among the first to get to hear his new musical releases these days.
