Jon Lucien has written some of the best love songs of the last 25 years, yet he never had a major hit and for a decade he didn''t even make a record. Straight No Chaser calls him the original Lover Man.
Writing and singing his own original music that defies classification in the normal genres, it is easy to understand why record companies and programmers deem his music as "unclassifiable" and when you hear it you will appreciate the difficulty in labeling his music and his voice. It containes elements of jazz, Brazilian music, funk, R&B, Afro-Cuban and pop, and yet it does not fit neatly into any of these categories, as several styles are often obvious simultaneously. You won''t have to wonder for long how to classify or catorigize, as Lucien''s personal approach to music quickly becomes the only style that matters.

Lucien will take you on a musical trip filled with freedom and tropical breezes over his band''s gentle rhythmic waves. Even when scat singing, Lucien never sacrifices the mood of the tune for mere display of vocal technique. It is as if he truly were singing in a universal language that doesn''t depend on lyrics to convey meaning and expression.
Lucien''s contributions on nylon string guitar and fender bass tie it all together with vocal lines that weave the rhythms and melodies into a cohesive whole. The only label that does it justice is "good music."
