Details:
The David Landon Band is made up of music industry veterans who share years of experience and a love of making great music. Individually each member is considered a ”monster” by fans, critics and fellow musicians alike. Together they bring a truly unique experience to the stage that absolutely exemplifies the saying that “ the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.”
“ Looking for guitar playing good enough to stop traffic? – Then meet David Landon who creates plenty of excitement with his liquid heat on the guitar.” - Blues Access Magazine. With a soul-filled feel and scorching tone, David has wowed audiences at each performance.
As the band’s leader and songwriter, David brings to the table years of experience both on stage and in the studio. Mr. Landon lived and performed in Europe for 5 years in the early 90’s and since his return to the US has released 4 c.d.s and has played on countless recording sessions as well as backing up many notable musicians such as Lenny Williams, Bobby Reed, Frankie Lee, Melvin Seals, Earl Thomas and Deacon Jones, to name just a few.
David has also toured throughout the west coast and has played numerous festivals including The Monterey Bay Blues Festival, The Delta Blues Festival, The Marin County Blues Festival and the Vallejo Jazz Festival. The David Landon Band has also appeared on Bay TV’s Morning Show with John Kessler and on Kofy T.V. 20’s Late Night with James Gabbert.
Virtuoso B3 player and keyboardist Tony Stead has played with some of the biggest names in blues and roots music. A short list includes Sly Stone, Chris Isaac, Ike Turner, The Pointer Sisters, Evelyn Champaign King, Joe Louis Walker, Tommy Castro, and Chris Cain. Tony is unrivaled in his soulful and dynamic playing and is also a dynamic singer.
Bassist Steve Evans has been playing professionally for over 30 years and in that time has been on countless hit records and has toured the world many times with a virtual who’s who of blues artists. His solid and masterful bass playing is legendary in the bay area and beyond. Among the people Steve has worked with are Bo Diddley, Charlie Musselwhite, Etta James, Elvin Bishop, Bob Weir, Roy Rogers, and Eric Gales.
Drummer Randy Hayes is a powerful and exciting player and is also a soulful singer and is the primary backing vocalist in the band. Together he and front man Landon weave soaring harmonies into the fusion of blues and rock that is the band’s repertoire. Randy has also spent years on the road and in the studio with artist such as Coco Montoya, Chris Cain, The Memphis Horns, Charlie Musselwhite, Maria Muldaur, Tommy Castro and John Lee Hooker Jr. to name just a few.
“This Time” is a collection of 12 tunes that David Landon wrote just for this band. The band had been performing these tunes for a full year on stage before the recording session, so the recording was done “live” in the studio. Nearly all parts were done live and kept just as they went down. You can hear it in the “live” feel of the c.d.
