Goshen is the ongoing musical project of artist/musician Grant Hayunga. Goshen (self titled), was released in 1994. The follow-up albums are Sway Back (1999), Trixie (2000), Show Pony (2001), From Bedlam to Ballyhoo (2004), Circus Wife (2005) and Lioness (2007).
The Como Sessions: Volume 1 was produced by James "Jimbo" Mathus of the Squirrel Nut Zippers, Buddy Guy and Knockdown South. This album was recorded at Delta Recording Service in Como, Mississippi and released in April 2009. With the exception of Elizabeth DeCicco on vocals, Hayunga used musicians from The Hill Country including Jimbo Mathus (guitar, piano, Wurlitzer organ, mandolin, drums, percussion and vocals), Corey Jenkins (drums), Justin Showah (engineer and bass) of Afrissippi and Chad Smith (Wurlitzer organ). Hayunga has been compared to Chris Whitley, The Black Keys, Towns Van Zandt and Neil Young among other greats, but has his own unique style that is, arguably, a new genre of music.
““…an American blues-rock act whose voluble frontman, Grant Hayunga, sings as if in search of Robert Johnson’s missing soul.” -Q music magazine, United Kingdom
“Goshen’s Grant Hayunga and his pitch dark Americana will leave you bewitched,” -LA Times.
In 2000, Grant met actress/model/singer Elizabeth DeCicco when they were both at a taping of Saturday Night Live with friend Val Kilmer hosting and U2 as musical guest. Their relationship began in 2006, six years after they had met. By 2008, they were performing together in Hayunga''s band Goshen. They currently reside in Santa Fe, NM.
Additionally, Hayunga is a graduate of RISD and a renowned painter. His work is shown all over the world and he is represented by Linda Durham Contemporary Arts.
