Details:
Formed originally during the summer of 1998, Vast Capital, formerly "A Bird of Passage," became one of the most engaging live acts in Seattle and in the Western half of the country. Over the last three years, the band performed at clubs, colleges and festivals not only in their native Washington state but also in California, Arizona and Colorado, among others.

In February of 2003, the newly named "Vast Capital" began pre-production on a third album and spent the better part of the next 10 months finishing up recording, mixing and mastering their latest release "What More Else", due out late March of 2004. The album, which features 11 stellar original songs was produced by Jon Blackstone (past sessions include work with Dee Murray, Nigel Olsson "Elton John" and co-writing sessions with famed Nashville writers Troy Seals and Margaret Becker. Engineered by Neal Cappellino (Nickel Creek, Alison Krause). String arranger/ composer John Mark Painter (Ben Folds, Sixpence None the Richer) and mastering by Steven Marcussen (Paul McCartney, Tom Petty).

HISTORY. In 1998, The three original members, Ethan Anderson, Levi Ware and Daryl Kikuchi, began writing and performing original compositions under the name "A Bird of Passage". Playing mostly coffee houses and outdoor festivals, the group had modest success in the local area, including a Tuesday night show at The Showbox in Seattle and an opening slot with The Posies at 92.9FM''s Ambrosia Festival in Mount Vernon, WA.

In the summer of 1999, the group, which by that time had added a drummer, released their first full-length LP, "Mood Change of Season" and began performing in support of their release. Later that year, "A Bird of Passage" became members of the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA), a college music and entertainment organization, and also began to perform out of state. The group performed in 2000 at colleges and universities such as the University of San Francisco, University of Arizona, Carroll Collage in Helena, Montana and many others.

At the same time they began to acquire a solid following in the greater Seattle area, performing at clubs such as the OK Hotel and the Central. In March of that year, ABOP opened up for Heart and the Spin Doctors'' Chris Barron during the Heart of the City Concerts in Everett, WA.

The band received some great news from across the country in early 2001, as "Mood Change of Season" received national acclaim: a nomination for 2000 Album of the Year by Rolling Stone writer PJ Gach in New York City''s Village Voice Paz and Jop poll.

December of 2001, the band was asked to Help kick off the West Coast promotion of the now Nationally recognized and critically acclaimed XM Digital Radio. This recorded performance took place at Experience Music Project in Seattle Washington, and can still be heard on the XM archives.

Over the next year and a half, ABOP changed drummers, adding current drummer Steve Barci, and began to hone its sound during gigs at increasingly better venues locally and out of state. During the span, the band performed at colleges and universities around the western half of the U.S. as members of NACA. In 2002 alone, they played at Cal-State University at Long Beach, University of Redlands (CA), University of San Francisco and Northwest College (Powell, Wy.).

"A Bird of Passage" released its second full-length LP in November of 2002, titled "Real As It Feels" and promoted it locally before beginning work on their latest album. Track 3 on Real As it Feels, "Good Afternoon," was featured on the Q-13 (KCPQ TV, Seattle) Morning News, previewing the group''s show at the Experience Music Project.
