Songs for Maybelle was recorded in two days! Nine of the songs were all done on the 6th March 2009, little Maybelle was born the same day! Maybelle is the grandaughter of my partner and I saw it fitting to name the album of songs in honour of her special day she chose to join us.
All the songs are cover versions of songs which I was watching the videos of on our BTVision Player the week before we recorded. I liked them but felt that I wanted to record the songs purely as vocal and piano versions. I also wanted to record them in "one take" from start to finish. Paul Higgs is a pianist/producer who was the only person I felt would understand what I wanted to achieve with this recording. We worked well together and within our two week remit (one day per week) of recording, the job was complete!
I do hope you enjoy listening to these songs, we certainly enjoyed recording them and hope to work on more projects of this nature in the future.
