1. What is your stage/band name? Does it have a special meaning?
Where does it come from?
OnzE (pronounced "skimask"), it is meaningless but has been compared to "the artist formerly known as Prince" being a symbol relating to a meaning, OnzE is our symbol. I was scrolling through my keyboard flicking the letters trying to save a setting and OnzE was the result.
2. How would you describe your music to people? (This is not a
short answer. Discuss it. Please include information regarding genre/style/lyrics/etc)
Genre wise, we call ourselves indie pop with synth driven melodies. Our style is based on the first thing that comes out of our amps that is catchy or makes us dance from there we write lyrics that are close to the deepest things our singer can thing of at the time.
3. Where are you from? Where do you live? What is your musical history? (Please be
specific. Include cities, dates, etc.)
We are from and live in Washington Pa., our drummer (Tj Emph) and singer (Bob McMahon) were in a local band called The Mondays when we started OnzE as a side project in August of 2007. The original plan for OnzE was to write a 4 or 5 tracks, throw down an E.P. and kill the band off. The plan was almost immediately thrown out the window once we got started writing because we just couldn''t stop. We decided to add a guitarist to complete our line up of vocals, keyboard, guitar, and drums. Originally, we wanted a friend of Bob''s to come play guitar (nick named Skiiimask) for us but he seemed to be the most elusive on days of practices, so Bob''s brother, Brian McMahon, with much prodding came out to the garage and started playing. We played our first show in Bob''s garage (Bob''s House Of Rock) opening for The Mondays (October 19th 2007). Shortly after that, The Mondays broke up and with that, OnzE died too. We were revived in July of 2008 because, one day, Brian was roaming around Bob and Brian''s house whistling the keyboard part to one of their songs, that sparked an interest and combined with that, Tj asked Bob if he wanted to start if up again at our friend''s graduation party. After that we wrote 8 more songs (July 2008-November 2008), released 2 E.P.''s ("OnzE(p)" [September 2008] and "Demo 2008-2009" [December 2008]), played various venues, created lots of merchandise and recorded a full length album (set for release in mid-March 2009).
Tj Emph is a self-taught drummer and multi-instrumentalist from Washington Pa. who plays bass in the progressive rock band Aaardvark.
Brian McMahon is a guitarist from Washington Pa.
Bob McMahon is the vocalist and keyboardist for OnzE (also a multi-instrumentalist).
4. Have you recorded any CDs/albums? EP''s? (Which studios? Who
produced them? Please provide dates/names of albums and/or popular tracks)
We just got done recording our first full length album at Mr. Smalls studio in Pittsburgh and are planning to release it mid-March of this year. We recorded 2 E.P.''s ("OnzE(p)" [September 2008] ["So Damn Cool" being the popular track] and "Demo 2008-2009" [December 2008] ["Down" being the popular track]) in Bob''s home studio that Bob recorded and OnzE self-produced.
5. Major influences that can be heard through your music, different
genres and bands. Please be specific.
Though we are pretty independent of influences in our band, a few song''s have particular influences such as, "So Damn Cool"''s peppiness contrasting with rude and vulgar lyrical content was influenced by Andrew W.K.''s song "Ready to Die", "Black"''s chorus was influenced by Clear Static''s "New Years 1984" chorus, much of our lyrical content comes from the philosophies'' of Nine Inch Nails'' Trent Reznor particularly in OnzE''s "Oh Joy, Oh Joy, You Must Destroy", and we were mildly influenced by Say Anything''s album "...Is a Real Boy" and "...Was a Real Boy".
6. How do your lyrics/music reflect the overall message you want to get across to your fans?
Our message, for those who choose to listen to our lyrics, is intentionally methodical in every way. OnzE (the band) is meant to take the most accessable of genre''s (indie pop) and show people the elements that Bob (as a singer and lyricist) idolizes most in lyrics and music. He want''s to take the depth of Nine Inch Nails and Tool (band''s that most people today won''t give a chance) and hand it to the laziest of listeners in an attempt to make them think (such as Trent Reznor and Maynard James Keenen did for him).
7. Are there any particular songs/albums that are especially important to you/your band. Why?
As far as songs/albums by other bands go, we are mostly self-influential, which we believe is important for true creativity (at least for us).
8. Any big upcoming events or shows, CD Release parties etc...? (Please provide
location/date/time)
We are currently mixing our new album in the studio so we plan to have a CD Release party at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale Pa. some time around mid-March but not specific date is scheduled yet.
9. What live performance experience have you had? (Any industry
showcases?)
We have played many local shows but the biggest show we have played was a battle of the bands at Saddle Ridge in Pittsburgh. We came in 4th place, but we gained nearly 30 fans from that night on myspace, had a crowd of about 75 (15 of which were dancing) and played one of the best shows yet.
10. Quick Facts. Please list anything noteworthy that you or your band
has accomplished in the music biz. Major gigs, festivals,
licensing deals, label recognition, radio play, record sales, etc...
With out a professional cd (coming soon), it is hard to get major gigs/radio play/recordsales/lable recognition/record sales/ or licensing deals because we don''t have a demo that we feel is suitable to turn into a major company. We have, however, canvases various malls in the area passing out flyers and making friends, talked to record stores (such as F.Y.E. and Best Buy) about selling our new album, created and are selling 4 different pin designs, 2 different T-Shirt designs, 2 E.P.''s, and show tickets. We work almost non-stop to get our band going, whether is be updating our myspace or earn it yourself pages, booking shows, writing songs, recording songs, making merchendise, calling production companies trying to convince them that we should play for them or anything else, if there is a band in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area that works harder than us, we would learn from them and step it up because we believe in OnzE.
11. Any upcoming albums, videos, features in magazines, etc...?
We have our first full length album being mixed currently and set to be released by mid-March 2009.
12. What sets you apart what makes your act original different...?
We make music that we have never heard before, and that is what modern American popular music is lacking. We work harder, play better, and love what we are doing more than any other band that we have ever heard of.

Tj was 15 when he started playing for The Mondays and 16 when Bob and he started OnzE, he is currently 18.
Bob was 14 when The Mondays started and 16 when Tj and he started OnzE, he is currently 18.
Brian was 14 when he joined OnzE, he is currently 16.
14. What are your immediate music career goals? (In the next 5
years.)
In the next 5 years, we hope to be playing sold out tours in America as well as Europe. Slightly unrealistic but, in a total of 9 months, we gained over 450 fans and believe that, in the right hands, our album could sell over 20,000 copies. We are fully willing to take the band as far as it will go, regardless of personal career choices, and plan to take it there ourselves because no one cares more about this band than we do!
15. What are your long-term career goals?
We just hope to take the band as far as it will go.
16. Plug your music. Where can the masses purchase your disk
and downloads?
After the release of our album in mid-March 2009, our album will be available through CD Baby, Itunes, Amazon as far as the internet goes, to purchase physical copies will hopefully be available in every Best Buy, F.Y.E., Target, and Walmart in the north east.
