Details:
MAR SALÁ is a music project devised primarily by Marta Hernández, with Liz Taub and Alfonso Cid. A latin sound, the Rumba flamenca, Brazilian rhythms and Spanish pop are the band’s prevalent brand of musical styles. Based in Brooklyn, MAR SALÁ is a cross over between the musical air of Seville and the polychromatic winds of New York City.

“Take Me to Bahia” is a party that will make you jump out of your chair and start dancing!! A great uplifting album with fresh compositions and catchy tunes, the songs range from Samba to Bossa Nova with Rumba Flamenca to Rock, Swing and Rap. Marta Hernández, a singer/songwriter from Spain, who also plays Spanish guitar, has composed all these colorful, sensual and fun themes with a touch of humor, beautifully arranged by producer and percussionist Antonio de Vivo. Her lyrics are written in English and Spanish. “Take me to Bahia” has gathered some of the most accomplished musicians in New York City. Liz Taub, a native New Yorker, plays violin and mandolin, adding an energetic and dynamic tone to the entire album. Alfonso Cid, a native of Seville, Spain, plays the flute, giving some of the compositions a dazzling vivaciousness and his unique integration of Flamenco sounds. Antonio de Vivo’s rhythms provide for the hot and vibrant structure of the entire album, giving it movement and solidity. This CD is enhanced with one of the best bass players in NYC, Pedro Giraudo. He is a native of Argentina. His precision and virtuosity are noticeable throughout the whole album, given his unique and personal sound. Gustavo “Chacho” Schartz, contributes to the distinctive Brazilian sound in all the compositions, where his guitar rhythms transport us to the Brazilian shores of Bahia and makes you want to listen to it over and over again. The song “I’ll be there for you,” is performed with great expertise by David Linaburg. The final product is a fun and eclectic album that lifts and cheers up your soul.
