These songs are collected from live performances recorded over the last ten years. (There were some from even earlier, but I can’t stand listening to them. Which isn’t to say parts of these songs don’t make me cringe a little, too, but this is live and that’s the price of admission.) Five of the songs have never been released prior to this (If You Look for My Heart will be on the next studio album.) And one—Burnham Wood—is actually the first time I ever played the song live.
Unlike a lot of live albums, we decided in editing to remove everything but the performance itself, except when the audience response overlaps the song.
Last, I did consider leaving in a few sections of between-song chatter, as some of that is kind of fun, but at the end of the day decided it would be distracting and, really, only worth listening to once. Having said that, if anyone out there happens to want this material, send me an email and I’ll happily pass along a link where the extra content can be downloaded.
