Details:
Formed in 1997 with Hart/Callahan/Morelock as an outlet for Hart’s growing catalog of poetry, the band released their first album “Opus Oil Slick # Same Said” in 1998. The album was recorded in four days with tracks built in layers from improvisations. Having found the process successful, the band added bassist Appleby for the 2000 release “This Is Our ~Music,” considered their finest record in the back catalog. The band dropped any conceptual pretensions and focused on ripping punk guitars and blistering noise. This style continued through 2002’s “Me & My Friend Noise,” a slightly less successful collection recorded in just one day and tricked out in a computer over 10 months. Deciding to step back from their noisy cliff, the band released the ambient instrumental guitar album “A Sleep + A Wake” (also in 2002) to general confusion. Focusing on other projects, the band did not record again until mid-2006, choosing only to release a collection of unused tracks under the title “B^Sides” in 2005. In February 2008, the live album “Travel Comes @live” was released. In March 2008, “Spoken Wor[l]d,” their first album of new material in over half-a-decade, was released. In mid-2008, “= Writes,” an album of pop songs, soon followed, along with “Anti-Social Butterfly,” an album of arena rock weirdness, plus an EP in 2009, “Whiteout!!!”
