In the year 2000, NECROCEST started writing the material for their first demo NO WASTE OF FLESH, which was recorded in October 2001 at Grass Roots Studios, Cardiff. The CD was sent out to promotion companies and after gigging around, the response was good, "Fantastic! The band decided it was time to recruit a fifth member on guitars, enter Neil, who they enlisted to complete a strong five-piece line-up. Sadly, Simon decided to leave the band at this time. This didn''t stop them though, as Neil filled in on bass duty for 2002. After an extensive period of gigging anywhere and everywhere they could, including supporting MALEVOLENT CREATION (US), IMMOLATION (US), ABORTED (US) and Welsh death metal veterans DESECRATION (UK), they went on to recruit full-time bassist Rich in 2003.
The writing of new material continued, which was going to show people what NECROCEST was all about; brutal in-your-face-fuck-you death metal. Neil finally had the chance to get back on the guitar, this making NECROCEST play with a strong back-line. The studio was hurriedly booked in 2004 and the recording of the new CD entitled DEAD PRETTY was completed in just three days. DEAD PRETTY was released on May 23rd 2005 on Casket Records, as a 10-track CD, featuring bonus tracks from the NO WASTE OF FLESH demo.
After a struggle to get the new stuff recorded, Byron who played on Dead Pretty decided to leave due to personal reasons, including the birth of his baby. The awesome Alex Matthews, who had previously seen NECROCEST playing live in his hometown, replaced Byron. With a style so unique and evil they just had to have him. Shortly after this addition they supported Swedish band VISCERAL BLEEDING (SWE) (now touring as support for DEICIDE) on their tour of the UK in May 2005. The summer brought acclaim for the bands CD DEAD PRETTY, grabbing the attention of many, including magazines KERRANG! and METAL HAMMER.
Gig brutality has continued with dates, playing with UNIQUE LEADER bands; MORTAL DECAY (US), BEHEADED (MLT) and BRUTUS (NL). They were proud to have been main support for Czech band FLESHLESS (CZH), also playing alongside DEFEATED SANITY (GER) and ROMPEPROP (HOL). THE ROTTED (UK), THE BEZERKER (AUS).
