Details:
Yalepo and the Caribbean Rock party is about the genre he’s influenced by. A
cross-over of Caribbean rhythms and Rock music. The Jimi Hendrix, Carlos
Santana kind of influence. Yalepo was born on Aruba. At this moment he
lives in the Netherlands. “Yalepo is the only Artist I’m going to focus on this
year because it is different and I love his music.” That is what Cat Anderson,
who is an music promoter based in the Blackpool area in the UK, said the
other day when Yalepo was talking business with him.
At this moment Yalepo is working on a new Album for the Caribbean Rock
Party band due to come out in the beginning of 2010. Also he is working on his
Rock Opera. You can find all promotional topics for the new work in the e-zine
Yalepo is putting out on the net in the near future.
Yalepo works with freelance musicians. I’m only talking about those who
where involved in this particular recording. When I’m on stage you may see a
different line-up of other pro’s. I played the guitar for them in other bands,
we know each other for a long time. Amsterdam has a good music scene and
we often play on stage at the jam sessions in the well known Clubs. On track
1,2,3,5,6, and 7 whe have on drums Jacob Jacobs. With him and Louis
Heijmans I started the serious rehearsals for this band to perform live. On
track 4 Louis on bass. On tracks 4,8, and 10 we have on the drums Gus
Genser. He is also taking care of all the percussion work on all tracks, some
additional rhythm guitars and backing-vocals. I know him from several bands
and session line ups. We had loads of fun on stage. He used to play the drums
for Herman Brood. On track 7 aditional lead vocals also done by Gus. On track
1,2,3,5,6,7,8 and 9 we have Henk Schutteon bass and backing vocals. On
track 2 he is also on the rap. I met Henk often in those days at the beginning
of the new millenium. Louis Heijmans had left the band to play with the John
Haze Project so I asked Henk if he was interested in playing the bass for me.
Fortunately he went for it. He is now playing for an Dutch blues artist. On
track 10 we have Jeroen on bass. Jeroen also played with various known
Dutch Artists. He was so kind to play the bass for me on this particular
track. Stan the Man agrreed to play additional guitar on the track “Get
ready”. He is also a well known musician in the Amsterdam music scene.
Rhythm guitars, sologuitar, backing vocals and lead vocals by Yalepo.
Yalepo is my Indian name given by my grandfather, an Caraib indian and
a medicine man in Surinam, who goes by the name of Johannus van der
Waals. Also his Indian name is Yalepo. The people there know him as Todo.
We promote this band on the net and in real life. This music of Yalepo is to
help the Caribbean Indian Spirit and the language because it’s fainting away
as so many other Indian Cultures do. They know about the Mother Earth and
the rain forest of the Amazon where timber is hard to find these days.
