Details:
Pick up Willy Magee’s long anticipated solo CD, an utterly uncompromising production from the pre-eminent purveyor of fine funky beats.
Willy Magee spent his childhood years in South Boston during the 1970s, a time when racial tension, desegregation, busing and violence had reached a point of critical mass. Weaned on East Coast R&B radio stations, he’s been crafting his interstellar funk repertoire ever since. After picking up his first bass guitar at age 21, Magee immediately began studying funk music masters like Larry Graham, Bootsy Collins & Sly Stone.
During the course of his career, Magee has put his funk skills into use performing with countless bands. Ultimately, rap verse and story telling would turn out to be a large part of Magee’s life’s work. 2% political and 98% puerile, Willy Magee’s lyrics are always provocative, penetrating and decidedly point-blank.
Now, Willy Magee brings us You can take a child out of the ghetto, but... a largely autobiographical work that embodies the gritty, urban flavor that is his first love. Enjoy...
