Treehouse Quartet features the pairing of Washington, D.C., area musicians: bass clarinet/clarinetist Denis Malloy and accordionist Andrew Marcus. Malloy and Marcus are joined by a swingin'', funky rhythm section featuring drummer Christopher Lerch and electric bassist Chas Marsh. The result is simultaneously modern yet reminiscent of the sounds of gypsy and klezmer jazz. The disc contains original compositions by both Malloy and Marcus. Genres featured are two vibrant funky Latin tunes, two evocative waltzes, an upbeat swing/jump number and few that are strictly unique sounding.
