Solomon Wells’ sound is best described as ambitious indie. It flirts at times with the driving rhythm and anthemic choruses of bands like U2 and the Arcade Fire, before seamlessly slipping into more introspective, organic songwriting reminiscent of Canadian folk-indie acts like Feist and Hawksley Workman.
The stage name of Victoria B.C. based songwriter Adrian Chalifour and the band that supports him. Wells’ popularity in the Victoria music scene has grown rapidly from 2006 to 2009, due in part to their unique yet accessible music and high-energy live show, which commonly features megaphone, gym whistle and a host of creative mid-song covers to captivate and energize the audience.
In August 2008, Solomon Wells recorded their first studio-quality album at Infinity Studios in Victoria with producer Jason Cook. The self-titled EP showcases the diversity of their sound, while also highlighting the common themes that connect them: profound lyricism, emphatic rhythm and infectious melodies.
