Angela Olivia Guillory, also known as " Angie G" to her fans has inspired many through her talents. Most commonly known for her lyrical food for the soul, this poetic diva is also a freelance visual artist and most recently, an aspiring pianist. Her legacy has been established as one of the most influential figures among her peers in the underground as well as the mainstream art and poetry sector.
Over a course of 12 years, Angela Olivia Guillory has planted many seeds throughout her journey. Winning a talent show landed her a trip to New York to perform on the world famous Apollo stage. She is the former co-producer and host of the longest running open mic in Houston, which is now known as the Poetry Lounge, located in downtown Houston at the Shadow Bar. Angela was featured, co-wrote poetry, and was the poetry coach for the supporting actress, for the award wining independent film, " Deadly Wordz", directed by A.B. Harris. Author, Michael Baisden, requested her to write the poem, " God''s Gift to Women", in his book, which is also titled, "God''s Gift to Woman". Two poetic awards have been named in her honor, The Angie G. Excellence In Poetry Award and The Angie G. Eclectic Award. Her poetry has been archived in The National Library of Poetry. Angela has opened for international musical artists such as Le Nubians, Howard Hewitt, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Erykah Badu, and The Roots, just to name a few as the list goes on.
Her recent spoken word musical arrangement titled, “Speaking in Fragments”, is a refreshing piece of art that will absolutely intrigue any listener despite their musical preference.
