Details:
A touch of psychedelia in the form of the band''s twisted logo, rising above a prairie skyline, announces the prevalence of The Womb over the desolate Canadian landscape. Born out of the bleak reality of the Doomlodge, the band''s Etobicoke, Ontario headquarters, their first full-length, "This is The Doomlodge", shows just how much a place can influence people, as the band''s writing reflects the self-imposed alienation and detachment its place of conception instilled in the band members. Rejecting contentment that bands often find within predictable and disingenuous heavy metal posturing, on their new album the band evokes a wide range of emotions from a wide range of listeners of Metal, Hard Rock, and Punk-whether it be epic sludge riffs reminiscent of New Orleans masters Crowbar, slide guitar that hearkens back to Canada''s own Big Sugar, frenetic punk passages ranging in dementia from Coliseum to Converge- the list goes on. Regardless of what lines one may draw, the allure of the band''s stop/start grooves and the startling nature of their stylistic shifts from song to song (even within songs) provides interesting characteristics for any looking for new and powerful music.

Formed in early 2006, The Womb has worked incessantly toward gaining notoriety for itself within the Ontario/Canadian metal scene, highlights including opening slots for Yakuza (Proshetic Records), the Mighty Nimbus (Candlelight), and Keelhaul and Engineer (HydraHead). The band has played numerous shows throughout Southern Ontario, and more recently has toured much of northern Ontario and Western Canada in support of its releases. As the band continues to elevate its status through the gritty music of the new full-length and the grittier mentality of its members, their battered but unfailing dedication to their craft cannot be ignored- as the lyrics to their song "One With Nature" states, "I create my own wounds...Day after Day"
