Tarkus History (English):
First Chapter:
In Peru, in the era of the 70’s, a Rock band (Heavy Rock) was born, with songs sung in Spanish. The music begun to show people that hard rock, could also be sung in Spanish. At that time, rock was only sung in English. That group was called Tarkus.
The name Tarkus was inspired by an LP record of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, whose cover picture inspired the musical force behind the band Tarkus.
The group was only together for 7 months, recording a single album, due to the fact that the guitarist and composer, Dario Gianella, retired from the band after the album was recorded. This action led the other members to cancel the project after the album was released.
The album had it all: great songs, talented musicians, and a futuristic vision. However, the record company found that music was too advanced for that time. Never-the-less, they decided to release a minimum number of copies of the album, without any promotion.
Second Chapter:
Years later, in the 90’s, the original Tarkus album was rediscovered and re-released via the internet. It started to become popular internationally and fans began to order the CD online. The "boom" was so impressive that it opened the door to a new generation of rock fans that began to consider Tarkus as a cult band.
Taking advantage of the continuing impact of the revival of the first album/CD, in 2007 Alex Natanson, aka, Nathanson (original singer) and Walo Carrillo (original drummer), along with Christian Van Lacke (on guitar) son of Guillermo Van Lacke (ex-bass of Tarkus) were inspired to seek a reunion with Tarkus to satisfy their audience. They started to practice the 8 songs that were on the original recordings of the "Tarkus” album and thus were able to perform them in a series of live concerts in 2007/2008.
Third Chapter:
Then the idea was born to follow up with a continuation of the magic of the group, by recording a second CD, entitled Tarkus2.
As a result of having had the opportunity to record new Tarkus material and for being the only member who remembered some of the unpublished songs that the group had (but were never released) Alex felt a great responsibility to take charge of the overall production of the CD. Throughout the years, he sang the songs with different groups, however, never recording them because it had always been his desire to record them someday with Tarkus.
The opportunity presented itself in April of 2008 and was completed in November of the same year.
With Alex’s new songs and adding some unreleased songs, the collection was formed that would be required for the recording of new material. Thus leading to the birth of the new Tarkus2 CD.
It is the hope that the new songs on Tarkus2 are to the taste and touch the heart of everyone who admires their original music. It is the greatest wish that this CD open doors for Tarkus to continue sharing their songs and their art with the rest of the world.

Historia de Tarkus (Español)
Primer Capítulo:
En el Peru, en la era de los ''70, nació una banda de Rock (Heavy Rock) con canciones cantadas en español. Su música empezó a mostrar a la gente que el "Rock Pesado", podía también cantarse en español. En ese entonces sólo se cantaba en inglés. Ese grupo se llamó Tarkus.
El nombre de Tarkus fue tomado de un disco LP de Emerson, Lake and Palmer, por su dibujo impreso, inspiraba este la fuerza musical a la banda Tarkus.
Se grabó un solo disco porque el grupo duró, en estar juntos, sólo 7 meses. Ya que debido a que su guitarrista y compositor, Dario Gianella (una vez finalizado el disco) se retiró de la banda. Esta acción dio lugar a que los otros miembros cancelaran el proyecto, pero el disco fue lanzado de todos modos.
Fue un album completo, con excelentes composiciones, músicos talentosos, y una visión futurística por excelencia. En consecuencia, la compañía disquera encontró que la música de Tarkus era demasiada avanzada para aquella época. No obstante, decidieron soltar al menos unas mínimas copias, sin ninguna promoción.
Segundo Capítulo:
Unos años más tarde, en los ‘90 el album original de Tarkus fue redescubierto y lanzado en la red del internet. El disco comenzó a ser propagado y pedido alrededor del mundo. El “boom” fue tan impactante que hizo abrir las puertas a las nuevas generaciones y a los aficionados del Rock. A partir de ahí, empezaron a considerarla una banda de culto.
Tomando ventaja del continuo impacto por el relanzamiento del primer album/cd, en el 2007, fueron inspirados: Alex Natanson, también conocido como Nathanson (cantante original) y Walo Carrillo (baterista original) junto con Christian Van Lacke (en la guitarra) hijo de Guillermo Van Lacke, (ex-bajista de Tarkus), a buscar un reencuentro con la música de Tarkus para satisfacer así a su público. Se empezó a practicar los ocho temas que fueron de la grabación del disco original "Tarkus", y así poder realizar una serie de conciertos en vivo en el 2007/2008.
Tercer Capítulo:
Surge entonces la idea de continuar la mágia del grupo, grabando un segundo disco, titulado Tarkus2.
A travez de la oportunidad de volver a grabar el nuevo material de Tarkus, nació en Alex Natanson, el inicio de una gran responsabilidad para hacerse cargo de la producción general del disco, y por ser el único integrante que se acordaba de algunos de los temas inéditos que había tenido el grupo (porque en ese tiempo nunca fueron dados a conocer al público). A travez de los años, esas canciones las cantaba siempre con diferentes grupos. Sin embargo nunca las llegó a grabar porque su deseo fue siempre de hacerlo algun día con Tarkus.
La oportunidad se presentó en abril del 2008 y se llevó a cabo en noviembre del mismo año.
Alex, con nuevas canciones de su autoria y completando con algunas canciones inéditas, se formó la recopilación de canciones que se necesitaría para la grabación del nuevo material. Dando lugar así al nacimiento del disco Tarkus2 CD.
Se espera que las nuevas canciones de Tarkus2 llegue al gusto y corazón de toda la gente que admira su música original. Y es el mayor deseo de Tarkus que este disco abra las puertas, para que Tarkus continue compartiendo sus canciones y su arte con el resto del mundo.
