Chiarastella''s voice, minimal and sweet, is quite unusual in the Italian scenario.
Her name, literally, means “Clear Star”.
She decided she would be a musician ten years ago, when she started studying at CIAC Music College, where she takes piano, singing, harmony and composition classes.
Meanwhile, willing to challenge what she is learning on the field, she gets into all sorts of experiences singing in clubs, on the streets, playing with cover bands, writing music for theatre.
She fell in love with every album of Bjork and was attracted by the hypnotic atmosphere of trip hop bands like Massive attack and Portishead and the music of Sigur Ros.
In 2004 the collaboration with the guitarist, composer, producer Francesco Tosoni brings the identity of her music to a new level. They started working together on the sound of her songs and founded a band, mixing elements of electronica, pop and rock.
With this project Chiarastella recorded two demos and played in some important Italian festivals for new talents (like Musicultura, Voci per la Libertà, Spazio Giovani, Premio De Andrè).
In 2006 she produced with Francesco Tosoni her first EP called “Chiarastella”, five nice songs with a delicate and dreaming mood.
Many critics have written positive articles about this work, appreciating the peculiar voice of Chiarastella and the arrangements of Francesco Tosoni.
In 2007 and 2008 Chiarastella sang mostly as a soloist, only with piano and voice.
She founded a new project too, a duo with the guitarist Cristian called “Little Odd Relationship”in witch she writes and sings in English.
In 2009 she took part at the second Italian ediction of talent show Xfactor, singing “Wuthering Heights” and “True Colors”. Her cover of True Color is published in the compilation of Xfactor 2009 (Italian ediction).
Chiarastella has now produced a new album with her band and her producer Francesco Tosoni.
This new work would be out in a short time.
