MP3 Page Lynch - Remove Your Shoes

Sounds like God kicking back in a rocking chair, whistling the tune of a sunrise. But seriously, this album is a nice blend of thought-provoking lyrics, powerful vocals, and dynamic instrumentation.

If you are reading this biography, you wish to get to know who I am. Who better to tell you than myself?

They (the music industry gurus) say that biographies should always be written in third person… I have already messed that one up. “They” also say that the best possible option is to pay someone of high standing to write your biography for you. I almost went this route but decided that those people do not actually know me, therefore, I felt bad about the prospect of tricking you.

To tell you of myself, I give you… myself. I am a writer, after all, so I really have no excuse to not write this myself (If you are paying attention, you just discovered the first thing about me: I am a writer… Jot that down for the test at the end).

I grew up believing that using instruments to worship God was a big “no no.” My freshman year of college, I did my best to research this theology with a closed mind and prove why what I had always been taught was correct. One day, a realization struck me like a truckload of alpaca llamas; “I am studying the Bible to prove what I believe… I should be studying the Bible for God to tell me what to believe.” From that moment onward, God really began working on me.

I discovered a knack for songwriting that had lain dormant in my mind until such time as God allowed it to surface. I decided that if instruments were not wrong for use in worship and expression to God, then I would write songs that glorified Him.

I went in and out of college as the years flew by. My first concert was in Knob Noster, Missouri. A worship minister from Knob Noster dug me up whilst I was cleaning up the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana and said, “Come. Play a concert at my church.” Reluctantly, I did. To my amazement, I was comfortable on stage and could actually focus on God while playing, without regard for what the listeners were thinking. God had now provided a springboard from which I jumped into the man known as Page Lynch (or Hutch). I am still astounded at the worship minister’s (Tom Deke) faith in God, going with his heart and putting someone as inexperienced as myself on a stage in front of his church family.

I later began the band known as Running Back to Glory (https://www.tradebit.com RBtG). I had quite a bit of success with the band, but I still had a strange sensation that my wheels were spinning. I felt God pulling me in a different direction, and through the affirmation of friends, family, and my wife and by the guidance of Christ, I made the decision to continue on as a solo artist.

The year 2008 was the most… special… year of my life. In February I contracted an illness that got me an expensive visit to the emergency room. I was healed in a couple of weeks, but it left me with lasting pain. In late February a member of the youth group I was teaching committed suicide. I learned that there really are situations where God does not intend for you to find answers… I learned how small I am and how big God is. I learned… a lot.

In May of 2008 my grandmother died, and my father sunk into a lengthy depression. In June I married my wonderful wife, Amy. While on our honeymoon, her grandmother died (this was quite a honeymoon buzz kill).

Shortly after my wife’s grandmother had passed away, I received an email that a major record label was going to sign me. Finally, I would be able to support my new family and make a living from my favorite thing to do, write songs… Two weeks later, I received an email from the same major record label saying that they did not have the funds to sign new artists right now (this was a bit of a music buzz kill).

Then in late July, one of my dearest friends committed suicide… I am still at a loss for words on this one…

All of this leads a man to wonder, “God, do you even have a future for me? Am I some kind of joke?” I had not lost my faith in God, but I did feel as though He and I were just staring at each other; me at a loss for words and God with the universe’s best poker face. In October I had a dream. The dream can be described in great detail, but in a summarized, vague version of it, my wife and I ducked inside of a building to escape three oncoming tornadoes, even though it was snowing outside. While bracing ourselves for impact, a middle-aged man that resembled my father appeared in the room and said, “Hey! I’m your future self. I just have to do something right quick.” He tapped my right arm, which was bracing my wife and I and said, “There… That should do it.” As he walked out, he said, “Hang on tight now. Oh, and uh, keep studying hard for both our sakes.” The tornado crashed through the glass, and I awoke.

I still am uncertain as to the meaning of this dream, but I am certain that God was giving me an answer: “Yes, Page. I do have a future for you. You have to trust me.” I could not contain myself. That day, I jumped up and ran out of the apartment, telling all of my friends, “God spoke! God finally spoke! He cares about me! He cares!” They thought I had lost my mind.

As previously stated, I had lost some steam in my music career due to the events of 2008, but refreshed and still in love with Christ, I am ready to brave 2009. It is going to be a fantastic year… This Will Be the Year of the Lord.

Summary of Page Facts (In 3rd Person):
Page and his wife, Amy, live in Murfreesboro, TN (Page is from Winchester, TN) and are members of the North Boulevard Church of Christ. Amy is an elementary school teacher and a wonderful wife. Page is a singer/songwriter, worship leader, and writer. He is also studying a bachelor’s degree in Worship Ministry at Lipscomb University. Together, they do their best to make God smile and actively seek a relationship with Jesus. Their prized possession is a highly unpredictable feline named John Wayne, who is quite possibly a descendant of the Andy Griffith Show’s famous “Loaded Goat” (that is an episode title… the goat’s name is Jimmy). Their goal through music is to convince people to be Running Back to Glory along with them.
