About Noches Habaneras:

This CD is a snapshot of one magical day in the EGREM studio in La Habana
with some of the island’s greatest musicians - “Maraca” Orlando Valle,
Miguel “Anga” Diaz, Julio Barreto, Deigo Valdes, and Felipe Cabrera. The CD was recorded direct to two tracks by legendary engineer Jerzy Belc. Julio and Felipe
were long time bandmates in Gonzalo Rubalcaba’s quartet. Diego, Maraca, and Anga came out of the crucible of Chucho Valdes’ Irakere. All went on to lead heir own bands and establish themselves as world players on the jazz and latin music
scenes.

About Jeff Gardner
“This is not a global music (i.e., commercial and bland) but an original transcendental type of post-modern music, and one that syncretizes the best from diverse traditions such as Brazilian music with American classical improvised jazz piano and classical composed non jazz piano. An artist whose ambition and drive seems nothing less than to create and sustain originality in his presentation of original works that make Jeff Gardner arguably the most compelling and unique post-Bill Evans pianist.”

Dr. Michael Hittman – producer - Radio WLIU
