The Type was formed by Jeri Casper and Terri Schanen. They met on MySpace in 2004. They wrote some songs in Terri''s basement apartment and then tried out some drummers. One of these potential drummers gave them their name, after remarking that he knew "The Type," referring to something Jeri or Terri had done that was naughty.
Jeri and Terri parted ways for awhile, played with some others, but ultimately reformed The Type in early 2007. After trying a few other musicians, Jeri met Tim Spinler on Craigslist. Tim also happened to be Jeri''s neighbor, living literally just a block away. He loaded up his Radio Flyer with drums and awesomeness, walked over and immediately meshed with the ladies. Soon after, Terri''s younger sister, Alyssa Schanen, joined the band on guitar. After just a month of practice (and just two weeks for Alyssa), this lineup played their first show together in March 2008 and were very well received. They have now been going strong for over a year.
